Join us for musical celebration of country blues great Mississippi John Hurt (1893-1966) featuring a live performance by Joe Payne, anecdotes, and an authentic Mississippi Southern supper – with Bedford Wine of course! John Smith Hurt, better known as Mississippi John Hurt, was an American country blues singer and guitarist. Raised in Avalon, Mississippi, Hurt taught himself to play the guitar around the age of nine. He spent most of his life as a sharecropper and only came into prominence the last few years of his life. His songs have been recorded by Bob Dylan, Jerry Garcia, Doc Watson and Taj Mahal. The event will be held at the tasting room courtyard in Los Alamos.
